I have a read a 8. chapter „Developing team skills and accomplishing team projects online “ by Debora C. Hurst and Janice Thomas. In the beginning e-learing could could be negative aspects for learners if they are scare working in team. If they are scare they would fail when they are using new techchnologies. In this point is very important other group members supports and minimize a stress. That encourages take risks and overcome challenges in team work.
People also must sharing information about they inviduals commitments others group members. This helping predict project deadline and how difficult is complete project. Subsequentaly are points if team wants to work in succesful way.
1. The deadlines must be met. This project was important to all.
2. Whoever was best able to lead on a particular task would do so.
3. Each member would contribute 150% to this project, and
endeavor not to let the other team members down.
4. Team members would raise a flag (let others know about tasks
not likely to get done on time).
5. Team members would pitch in to complete work as needed.
In this week I introduced my group members via blogs. Also we pondered which gropuwork communication tool we can use. We decided to use PBWorks. For me it was new collobration tool.
Others weeks I will try to follow these 5 points:)
Your statement "e-learning could be negative aspects for learners if they are scare working in team" has a point, however, I have seen cases when people being afraid of face-to-face group works have actually taken quite an active role in an e-learning situation. Mainly because they don't have to react immediately and they can spend more time on thinking and therefore express their ideas with some delay. On the other hand they can also "hide" behind their artificially created "avatars", not being worried about what other group members think of them as they are not going to see each other anyway. Being anonymous behind your computer might be even an advantage in taking an active role in a group work...
ReplyDeleteOf course there are people who are afraid of technology and don't feel confident in presenting their ideas via technology. I agree with the points, which are actually applicable for both face-to-face collaboration and group work mediated by technology. The difference is just the medium. And certainly it is important to handle the tool for communicating your ideas and thoughts in a desired way.
